Discrimination based
on carers' responsibilities
The Anti-Discrimination (Carers' Responsibilities) Act 2000 (the
Act) amends the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW) to include
carers' responsibilities as grounds for discrimination in NSW. For
the first time in NSW, it will be unlawful for an employer to discriminate
against an employee or job applicant on the grounds of that person's
responsibilities as a carer.
Age Discrimination

There are a number of sections in the NSW Anti-Discrimination
Act 1977 which pertain to age discrimination. Employers must
be aware of the relevant sections of the act. These are outlined
