Annual Leave, often referred to as holiday leave or sick leave, is the paid (or unpaid) time off granted to employees.
In Australia, it’s a fundamental employment entitlement designed to ensure a healthy work-life balance.
Annual leave for workers is a time period calculated in addition to national holidays, it includes paid leave, unpaid leave, sick leave, carers leave, domestic violence leave, and maternity/paternity leave.
Employees accrue annual leave based on their ordinary hours of work and the length of their service.
The timing of annual leave is subject to agreement between the employer and employee.
